Whalefall Shoals Guide — Otters, Beach Gulls and Four Overworld Eggs

Whalefall Shoals spawns: otter families around the Chubbott boss, Sagestar islets, beach-form gulls and crabs, and the four Aniimo Eggs hidden on cliff edges.

Whalefall Shoals is Aidel's tidal playground — sandbars, islets and cliff-edged coves where the water-line creatures live. It is the best early region for water-type rosters, the home of the otter families (mascot included), and the confirmed home of four overworld Aniimo Eggs.

Common spawns

  • Bubbott — the bubble otter, on the islets and sandbars around the Chubbott boss. Boss-adjacent spawns make this a two-birds route: captures now, boss loop after.
  • Shyott — the shy otter and the game's face, on the quieter beach stretches. Its pre-registration egg (see launch rewards) hatches the same species — wild captures still count for the dex's regional entries.
  • Sagestar — on the islets and shallows down-left of the teleporter; the star-line's water phase.
  • Scallicrab (beach form) — two colonies: the islet at the top-right of the RV station, and the beaches of the facing continent shore.
  • Buglegull (beach form) — the coastal sands below the Ley Flower.
  • Tubagull (beach form) — the peninsula directly below the Ley Flower — the region's signature elite-gull line.

The four Aniimo Eggs

Whalefall Shoals hides four overworld Aniimo Eggs, marked by the community's ★ points:

  • All four sit on cliff edges where beaches meet woodland.
  • The reliable way to find them: take a glide-type and fly the shoreline — the eggs read clearly from above and are miserable to find from below.
  • Eggs here feed the egg mechanics progression and the collection milestones tied to them.

Sweeping the cliff line once per visit keeps the egg count current; they are fixed spawns, not random.

Specials

  • Chubbott boss — the region's anchor elite, with its iridescent variant documented among the local specials. Loop it for seals and otter-adjacent captures; one-minute respawn as usual.
  • Buglegull iridescent — an iridescent chase tied to the local Ley Flower phenomenon; nourish, then work the beaches.
  • Weather notes: the shoals' beach forms are the default population here — this is the region where beach-form hunting needs no weather at all, which makes it the best place to complete those dex entries fast.

Routes that work

The shoreline circuit: teleport → down-left islets (Sagestar) → Chubbott boss ring (Bubbott) → RV station islet (Scallicrab) → facing-shore beaches (Scallicrab #2) → Ley Flower beaches (Buglegull, Tubagull peninsula). One loop covers every spawn family and both crab colonies.

The flight sweep: glide the full cliff line for the four eggs, dropping into coves as you spot them. Pair it with the shoreline circuit's finish.

The night pass: otters and beach gulls keep their spots after dark — sweep once more for night-form stragglers before leaving.

Why the shoals matter

Three economics overlap here: water-type roster depth (otters carry early capture-ailment duty), egg collection (four fixed spawns), and beach-form dex completion without weather friction. For leveling purposes that combination is hard to beat in the early regions — and the views alone justify the trip.
